The Storage Guide

Do I need a 256GB storage drive or a 2TB storage drive? How much storage is enough? How many movies and songs can I fill into this drive?

Read more to find the best storage capacity for you.

Windows needs at least 100GB of storage for cache and its updates so that it can run smoothly without any slowdowns. So, a 128GB SSD is not really recommended unless you are going to be using it as an Operating System drive exclusively. This is highly unrecommended because you would have space to store your most used applications on the SSD and would have to get a secondary storage drive to store your applications and other data.

The sweet spot nowadays is a 500GB drive for your OS and most used applications, that way you will still have space left over to store some movies, music and a few games if you are into it.

Below is a table showing you how much media you can store on different size drives*.
